Chanel Le Vernis Paradoxal was launched for Fall 2010 and I can still find them over the counters in Singapore, so I suspect that this shade is in the permanent range now?
I was trying to find the swatches of this nail polish online and came across a few different colours which were rather confusing. Is this a grey or eggplant or light purple or brown or black? So I had to check out at the counter myself. True enough, as what many had said, Paradoxal is an odd nail polish colour which looks very different depending on what lights you are under.
Below swatches were taken on the third day of application, thus some minor tip wear had occurred. And the polish lasted about 7 – 8 days (with major tipwear) which I consider above average for traditional nails polish. However, the application was not as smooth as I had expected, the formula was a bit streaky and hard to spread out. Took about three coats to even out the streaky-ness. All swatched with Chanel Base Coat and Seche Vite fast drying top coat.
Chanel Le Vernis Paradoxal looks vampy eggplant colour with grey undertone to me on normal indoor lights. Under flash / sunlight, I can see some purple shimmer peeking through. The shimmers are much more obvious in the bottle and they kind of disappear after drying on my nails. Since the shimmers are not obvious, the finish is not metallic looking, it looks also like a flat cream finish. I do wish that the shimmer is more obvious though because Chanel’s shimmers are usually pretty magical looking.
Chanel Le Vernis Paradoxal retails for SGD 37 for 13 ml, made in France. Will you be getting any? 🙂
